Red Stag, also known as Red Deer, are one of the most wide spread deer found around the world.

They inhabit Europe, the Caucasus Mountains, Asia Minor, Iran, and also parts of Asia.

Their introduction of red stag in this country takes place in 1910.

Red Deer have thrived in Argentina and the population of the species is staggering.

Hunters covet this species because of their massive racks, beautiful capes, delicious meat and elusive nature.

Hunting trophy Red Stag takes patience and perseverance as they can be very shy and disappear in the foliage in a heartbeat.

Characteristics Of The Red Stag

One of the Red Stag’s unique characteristics is that the Stags (male) have a loud distinct roar much like a lion.

The intensity of this roar is a bit unnerving to the hunter who has not heard it before.

The peak of the roaring season is from about the middle of March to the middle of April, although in some areas they will roar longer (like on our ranch in Patagonia) due to the high density of hinds.

These calls are to attract female Red Deer in the area and to intimidate other Red Stags.

There is nothing like walking through a valley and hearing two Red Stags trading calls. It is something that you will remember for the rest of your life.

Calling A Red Stag

Hunters will call Red Stags to their location by using either a roar or a hind call.

If a Stag has a harem of hinds around him then the hind call will not work as well as if he is away from his harem or is looking for more hinds.

If you locate a Stag with a harem then a roar call will work best because he does not want a competing Stag to get close to his harem.

When this is the case you need to be very alert when calling as the Stag can be on you in an instant looking for the other Stag.

This country has some of the best Red Stag hunting in the world.

Our climate and vast uninhabited terrain are perfect conditions for producing trophy Red Deer.

Argentina Red Stags can be massive and weigh in excess of 500 pounds.   The hinds are considerably smaller.

One of the most desirable things about hunting Red Stags in Argentina is that the hunting is typically free range, which means the animals are running wild.

In many parts of the world you hunt for Red Stag in high fence areas and the animals are confined to a few hundred acres.

Harvesting a Red Stag in a free-range environment is one of the exciting moments you will ever have as a hunter.

Hunting Red Stage at Argentina Big Hunting

At Argentina Big Hunting we have access to a number of different lodges to hunt from based on where the animals tend to be during our hunters visit.

We hunt our own properties in the main two Red Stag destinations in all of Argentina, our lodge in the mountains of Patagonia and our lodge in the bush of La Pampa.

Our hunters enjoy much more time hunting rather than riding in a truck for long distances just to get to the hunting grounds.

Since we have access to the best hunting areas in Argentina the quality of our Trophies is second to none.
